On
Duty Police Scheduling Software supports
virtually any scheduling approach that is based on repeated cycles.
A schedule cycle in On Duty can be anywhere from two days to 112
days (16 weeks).
Schedule cycles,
referred to in On Duty as schedule patterns, can control shift
rotations. For example, if your employees work 4 weeks on
the day shift, then 4 weeks on the night shift and then back to
days again, you can set this pattern up in On Duty. On Duty's
Scheduling Wizard will make it all work perfectly.
Of course, you probably
have different schedules for different people. On Duty allows
you to have an unlimited number of schedules.
Most agencies have
groups of employees who work on the same days. On Duty allows
you to create schedule groups to simplify your scheduling. You
can have all of your employees in groups, or you can have a mix
of some employees with their own unique schedules and others scheduled
in groups.
Even if somebody
is in a group, you can customize their schedule by overriding
the schedule generated by the wizard. You can easily add
vacations, planned leave, or overtime shifts. You can even re-run
the wizard just for one employee if that employee changes groups
or schedule patterns.
When you change somebody's
schedule, On Duty asks you for a reason. If the reason you choose
is associated with a time category (sick, vacation, overtime,
etc.), the employee will be flagged automatically for review and
adjustment of the appropriate time balances. Employee time information
can be exported to a spreadsheet for easy transfer to your payroll
system.
On Duty makes it
easy to set up your schedule. Setting up schedule patterns and
groups can be done in a matter of a few minutes. Once you've set
up your patterns and groups, they will probably never need to
be changed.
What about shifts?
On Duty allows you to set up as many shifts as you want. Shifts
can be any length up to 24 hours. Shifts that span midnight are
just fine with On Duty. Overlaps are okay, too.
Some agencies rotate
days off periodically. For example, one agency we work with
schedules 4 weeks at a time. Everybody works 5 days on and two
days off. After 4 weeks, each group rotates its days off by one
day. On Duty provides a rotation wizard that allows you to easily
rotate all or some of your groups. It even remembers how much
you rotated each group the previous time, making subsequent rotations
happen with just a click of the mouse button.
